Our eco friendly steps
We are a business who care about the environment, we try to be as eco friendly as we can. Here are just some of the steps we have put in place to help reduce waste and live a life less throw away.
PLASTIC STRAWS
By default we won't serve your drink with a plastic straw. So many customers do not require a straw therefore most end up in the bin without any use. This policy has been put in place since January 2018, so we have already saved so many straws from going into the ocean.
GLASS BOTTLED WATER
We offer complimentary water in our luxury log cabins. We now offer glass bottled water, instead of plastic bottled water, which will heavily reduce the amount of plastic water bottles being used.
REFILLABLE SOAP, SHAMPOO AND SHOWER GEL DISPENSERS
Instead of offering miniature toiletries or single use toiletries; we offer refillable shower gel, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in our luxury log cabins and refillable hand soap and hand moisturiser in the bistro. The dispensers are filled with premium products so you have a luxury cleaning experience with a cleaner conscience!
USING LESS SINGLE USE BAGS
We sometimes need to use plastic bags; but where we can go without, we do! For example, we recently stopped using single use bags to gather our laundry and now instead use a cart to transport the laundry.
SINGLE USE SPA SLIPPERS
We have always provided slippers in our spa and luxury log cabins, but we have made the decision to switch to reusable flip flops. After the use of cotton single use spa slippers, we would have to throw them away or customers take them home, but would inevitably end up in landfill with very little use. We have now invested in a batch of white reusable flip flops, which can be disinfected after use and worn again. We are also encouraging customers to bring their own to further reduce plastic use.
NO FOOD WASTE
We prevent our food waste going to landfill by converting it into clean, green energy. Our third party company collects our food waste and recycles it using biotechnology to provide clean energy products such as heat, electricity, transport fuel and biofertilizer in a safe, secure and environmentally friendly way.
